Novel carbapenem compounds represented by the following general formula or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof: (A) It is intended to provide beta-lactam drugs having excellent antimicrobial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria over a wide range, in particular, Penicillin Resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae (PRSP) and influenzae acquired resistance to the existing beta-lactam drugs over a wide range in due to mutations in penicillin-binding proteins (PBP) such as beta-lactamase non-producing ampicillin resistant influenzae (BLNAR) which have been more frequently separated in recent years and cause serious clinical problems, and a high oral absorbability.
