PURPOSE: A method of operating a wireless LAN system using an access point and a system operation method therefor are provided to store user information on the access point of the wireless LAN system, in order the access point manages the user information, thereby performing network access authentication without an authentication server. CONSTITUTION: A wireless LAN terminal requests network access(S41). A memory controller of an access point confirms whether the network access request is transmitted from the wireless LAN terminal capable of performing authentication(S42). If so, the memory controller receives personal ID information including a user ID and a password from the terminal(S43). The controller compares an extracted user ID and a password with the user ID and the password included in the personal ID information, and performs the authentication if the IDs and the passwords are the same(S44). The controller informs a wireless LAN MAC processor of an access permission(S45). The MAC processor transmits an access authentication signal to the terminal, and gives an IP number(S46).
