PURPOSE: A device for receiving diversity in a mobile communication system and a method therefor are provided to enable a terminal to measure an SIR(Signal to Interference Ratio) as reducing power consumption of the terminal and complexity of a terminal modem, thereby resolving performance deterioration of the system caused by time differences. CONSTITUTION: More than two antennas(301,303,305,307) receive signals transmitted through various paths, respectively. More than two SIR measurers(311,313,315,317) measure the SIRs relating to each of signals received through the more than two antennas(301,303,305,307). Selectors(321,323) select an optimal antenna having a maximum SIR among the measured SIRs from the antennas(301,303,305,307). A rake receiver(331) has many fingers for demodulating multipath components of a signal received through the optimal antenna. A finger combiner(341) combines the demodulated multipath components, and outputs the combined multipath components. |
