The milling cutter for crankshafts has a disc with peripheral cutting inserts (14). Each insert has upper and lower (12) faces. The upper face has a pair of rounded projections (10''.10''') along each side edge. The rounded projections are convex and can each define a cutting edge (28). Claims include a method of using the cutter to form grooves in a big end pin of a crankshaft.
