PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming an organic thin film having optically functional sites with a sub-micron size, arranged regularly in a lattice-like structure of two-dimension, and having high reproducibility and excellent evenness of the size, and to provide an optical recording medium excellent in highly even pit sizes and excellent in recording reproduction signals, and capable of carrying out recording at a high recording density and reproducing the recording data beyond the diffraction limit of a pick-up lens, that have not been achieved by conventional optical recording media, by using the organic thin film having evenly and regularly arranged optically functional sites with the sub-micron size.
SOLUTION: In the method for producing the organic thin film containing a polymer having a lattice-like structure regular in two-dimension and a functional dye at the sites of the holes of the lattice, the polymer has a regularly arranged structure by self-alignment and forms a lattice-like pattern, and a thin film of the functional dye is formed thereon, and after that, the polymer and the functional dye are brought into contact with an ambient gas containing the vapor of a solvent which can solubilize the polymer and dye to form an organic thin film. The optical recording medium comprises the organic thin film as a recording layer.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
