PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste carbonization apparatus with which the carbonization and dry distillation of waste is continuously carried out with low cost facilities, simple treatment and excellent heat efficiency without producing pollutant such as dioxins and to provide a method for waste carbonization. SOLUTION: The carbonization and dry distillation of the waste are achied by using means for: forming layers of the waste which are vertically stacked with a height greater than≥2 times the diameter of a furnace; forming layers for the dry distillation process of drying - decomposition - carbonization; and stirring the inside of the furnace with a built-in heating stirrer to increase the rate of reaction.
