NEW GENE INVOLVED IN NEURALIZING INDUCTION, ITS PROTEIN AND METHOD FOR UTILIZING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new gene which involves in a neuralizing induction in spinal animals and its protein and to provide a method for utilize the gene and the protein.

SOLUTION: An XMAN1 gene which involves in the neuralizing induction of an animal cap of Xenopus laevis is isolated and structures of the XMAN1 gene and an XMAN1 protein are determined. A molecular mechanism of morphogenesis by neuralizing induction in the spinal animals is elucidated through a functional analysis of the XMAN1 gene and the XMAN1 protein. A human MAN1 which is a human homologue protein of the XMAN1 protein and its gene can similarly be utilized. The present invention further enables application of therapeutic agents and a therapeutic method for nervous system disorders.
