<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag system capable of certainly inflating and expanding an airbag in a suitable direction, effectively absorbing impact at vehicular collision, and easily returning the airbag that has not been inflated and expanded to its original position when avoiding collision. <P>SOLUTION: The airbag 31 is installed to a center portion of a steering wheel 21. When a pre-crash sensor estimates and detects collision, the airbag that has not been inflated and expanded is moved to a predetermined position by actuation of a moving motor 37, thereby changing a direction of the airbag 31. Then, when a collision sensor detects the collision, the airbag 31 is inflated and expanded at the predetermined position by actuation of an inflator 32. When the collision sensor does not detects the collision, the airbag 31 that has not been inflated and expanded is returned to its original position by actuation of the moving motor 37. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
