<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform recording at a high speed with a high image quality through an inexpensive arrangement having a memory of smaller capacity than the volume of data being recorded by single main scanning. <P>SOLUTION: In the recorder where the capacity of a print buffer for storing record data transmitted from a host unit is smaller than the volume of data being recorded on a recording medium by single scanning of a recording head, the print buffer is divided into a plurality of blocks corresponding to rectangular areas being recorded by scanning (S12), use order of the blocks is managed such that the record data is stored cyclically in the blocks as the recording progresses (S16), and when a specified volume of record data indicative of non-driving of recording elements sustains, these record data is not stored in the blocks but represented by a specified control data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
