PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a dephosphorizing material capable of effectively removing phosphorus components from phosphorus-containing water as a dephosphorizing material, causing neither aggregation nor precipitation and having a prolonged service life as a dephosphorizing material. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a dephosphorizing material, a composition consisting of a cement material, calcium hydroxide or calcium sulfate, and water is granulated and the surfaces of the resulting granules are coated with a calcium compound and subjected to carbonating treatment.
