<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording sheet having both of ink drying properties and the water resistance of a recording image, and an image receiving coating agent for ink jet recording capable of manufacturing the recording sheet. <P>SOLUTION: The image receiving coating agent for ink jet recording contains a (meth)acrylamide copolymer emulsion (A), which is obtained by the emulsion polymerization of a monomer mixture comprising 5-80 wt.% of (a1) a hydrophilic ethylenic unsaturated monomer containing (meth)acrylamide and 20-95 wt.% of (a2) a hydrophilic ethylenic monomer in an aqueous medium in the presence of a chain transfer agent (b) comprising phosphorous acid or a salt thereof using a surfactant (c) and a polymerization initiator (d), a cationic compound (B) and an inorganic filler (C).
