<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide sugar and saccharides widely utilized as a sweetener, a food and a beverage containing the sugar and saccharides formulated therein and the food, the beverage and a sanitary article for the oral cavity affecting teeth and sanitation in the mouth such as other raw materials, processed foods, nutrient auxiliary foods and healthy foods with prophylactic effects on dental caries and further antimicrobial effects and medicinal effects. <P>SOLUTION: The sugar and saccharides are provided with the antimicrobial effects and medicinal actions using either one of two kinds of phenolic acid contained even in honey and a material containing the phenolic acid formulated with gluconic acid.
