PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of separating and recovering diabetic complication factors in body fluid that includes the carbonyl stress products that will cause a variety of blood vessel lesions, e.g. arteriosclerosis, under the conditions that the carbonyl stress is morbidly exacerbated as a result of deterioration in excretion and metabolism function in diabetes, artificial dialysis and a variety of nephropathy and the like by bringing the body fluid into contact with an adsorbent body formed by immobilizing an RAGE-bonding substance adsorbing ligand to the water-insoluble carrier to separate and recover the complication factor. SOLUTION: (1) The adsorbent body formed by immobilizing an RAGE- bonding substance adsorbing ligand to the water-insoluble carrier is brought into contact with the fluid to be treated originating from body fluid, then the adsorbent body is sufficiently washed with a washing solution and the washed adsorbent is brought into contact with an aqueous solution for separation and recovery whereby the diabetic complication factors is obtained.
