PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a projection display device capable of preventing a display state from being deteriorated by the structural problems of a cross dichroic prism and projecting and displaying a high definition image on a projection display device using the cross dichroic prism as a color light synthesizing means. SOLUTION: Light emitted from a light source 100 is separated into luminous flux of three colors of R, G and B by dichroic mirrors 401 and 402 and is modulated by liquid crystal panels 411, 412 and 413. Modulated light is projected on a screen 470 through a projection lens 460 after being synthesized by the cross dichroic prism 411. A light scattering element 480 is disposed between the light source 100 and the dichroic mirrors. |
