PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a styrenic resin foam having a high expansion ratio and excellent thickness and the provide a process for preparing the same using carbon dioxide as a blowing agent. SOLUTION: There is provided a process for preparing an extruded foam of a styrenic resin using carbon dioxide as a blowing agent, where, as the styrenic resin as a starting material is employed a sytrenic resin having a melt flow rate of X (g/10 min) and a melt tension of Y (g.f), X and Y satisfying the relation represented by the equation: Y>-0.65 X+11.6 (provided that 2<X<10). A foam obtained by the process has a density of 0.030-0.047 g/cm3, a thickness of 15-120 mm and an average cell diameter of 0.050-0.50 mm. |
