<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a portable device comprising a case that can be slimed and has excellent portability, in which data for search is easily input. <P>SOLUTION: A portable device comprises a rectangular display unit that displays the character data or the graphic data in accordance with a format being set in a vertical orientation display mode or a horizontal orientation display mode. The portable device also comprises a means for setting the display modes, which sets either the vertical orientation display mode or the horizontal orientation display mode; a touch panel input unit arranged on the surface of the rectangular display unit; a case for housing the rectangular display unit and the touch panel input unit; and keys for controlling screens, which are arranged along a short side of the rectangular display, scrolling the screens displayed on the display unit, and/or switching pages displayed on the display unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
