PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus for autonomously changing names so that a plurality of communication apparatus having the same name do not exist in the same radio communication network and its control method. SOLUTION: A name is inquired to other apparatus enabling communication (S493) and whether or not the name is matched with that of the present apparatus is checked (S495). When the names are matched, a name different from that of other device is generated by using, for example, an address for radio communication which the present apparatus has and the name is changed to the generated one (S496).
