<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera that is constituted to offer various operational conveniences to a photographer when the photographer takes pictures with an intention of using recorded pictures by trimming the pictures in future, and so on. <P>SOLUTION: When the photographer sets a desired trimming form by selecting the form from among various previously prepared trimming forms, the photographer can display a picture to be photographed on a displaying means 31 in a state where the picture is trimmed in the selected trimming form by means of a first signal processing means provided in a system controller 18. In addition, when the photographer makes photographing (recording) actuating operation, such as the release, etc., thereafter, the photographer can record untrimmed image signals and an identification signal indicating the then selected trimming form on a recording medium 23, by means of a second signal processing means also provided in the system controller 18.
