摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a manufacturing process and to lower the cost of a multi- gap type liquid crystal panel by omitting a process of removing an overcoat layer only in a transmission display area. <P>SOLUTION: On a light-transmissive substrate 101, a color filter layer 120R for reflection display is provided so that its external surface is higher than the external surface of a color filter layer 120T for transmission display by a specified value (α). On those color filter layers, the overcoat layer 127 which is uniform in layer thickness is provided, so the external surface of the overcoat layer in the reflection display area is higher than the external surface of the overcoat layer in the transmission display area by the specified value (α). When the liquid crystal panel is constituted by using this substrate for the liquid crystal panel, the liquid crystal panel has a multi-gap structure such that the thickness of the liquid crystal layer is larger in the transmission display area than in the reflection display area by the specified value (α). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p>
