PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotation transmitting device with a two-way clutch prevented from being in an engaging condition during the idling of an inward member. SOLUTION: A roller 6 is assembled between a cylindrical face 3 of an outer ring 2 and a cam face 5 of a cam ring 4. Between a two-way clutch 1 using a holder 7 for holding the roller 6 and an electromagnet 20 for controlling the engagement of the two-way clutch, a rotor 30 prevented from being rotated by the outer ring 2, an armature 40 prevented from being rotated relative to the holder 7 and supported movably in the axial direction and a departing spring 43 for thrusting the armature 40 in the direction of departure from the rotor 30 are assembled. A rotation preventing mechanism 50 is assembled between the cam ring 4 and the armature 40. When the cam ring 4 and the armature 40 are relatively rotated by preset angled during the idling of the cam ring 4, the rotation preventing mechanism 50 is operated for preventing the armature from being rotated relative to the cam ring 4 to prevent the roller 6 from engaging with the cylindrical face 3 and the cam face 5.
