PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the operation of a multifunctional display device, particularly a portable display device. SOLUTION: The display system comprises a control/communication unit 100A and a display unit 200A, either of which can be carried around. The control/communication unit 100A sends out image selection command signals to the surrounding space. The display unit 200A comprises a memory circuit 130A for storing image data, a communication circuit 120 for receiving the selection command signals, a control circuit for reading out the image data corresponding to the received selection command signal from the memory circuit 130A, and a display circuit for converting the image data read out by the control circuit 150 into an image and displaying it.
