PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrences of an explosion image and the defective separation of paper in accordance with a transfer process in an image forming apparatus to transfer an image on a belt-shaped image carrier to the paper by a transfer member. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus to transfer the image on the belt-shaped image carrier to the paper by the transfer member is provided with two or more laying rollers of the belt-shaped image carrier in the area of the belt-shaped image carrier with which the paper comes into contact when the paper is inserted into a transfer nip.
