<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means that stores a cartridge use quantity into a cartridge without mounting a ROM in the cartridge and sequentially displays a use quantity even in the case where a different type of cartridge is replaced and used. <P>SOLUTION: (1) The electrostatic capacity of a dielectric for storing a cartridge use quantity has a value that is specific to each individual type, thereby identifying the individual type. (2) The dielectric for storing the cartridge use quantity and a dielectric having electrostatic capacity specific to each individual type are arranged electrically parallel to each other, thereby identifying each individual type. (3) A movable quantity of the dielectric for storing the cartridge use quantity is made to correspond to the life of each of the individual types of the cartridges, which eliminates the need for an image forming device to identify the individual type and allows sequential display of use quanitities even in the case where the process cartridge is replaced and used. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
