<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic coupling assembly with an electronic controlled hydraulic actuator including a solenoid driven variable pressure safety valve assembly for infinitely variable torque distribution between a main axle and a subsidiary axle of an all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The hydraulic coupling assembly comprises a rotatable casing, first and second output shafts axially outwardly extending from the casing, a hydraulic driven selectively engageable friction clutch assembly for operatively coupling the casing to at least one of the output shafts, and the hydraulic clutch actuator. The hydraulic actuator comprises a hydraulic pump located in the casing for generating hydraulic pressure for applying a frictional load to the friction clutch assembly and the variable pressure safety assembly fluid- communicated with the hydraulic pump for selectively controlling the hydraulic pressure generated by the pump. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
