<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable nonthermal processing to minimize the deformation of a workpiece by using a laser beam of a pulse width shorter than the time of the thermal relaxation of the workpiece in the field of processing using the laser beam. <P>SOLUTION: The method for short pulsing of the pulse laser beam comprises making the pulse laser beam incident on one or a plurality of lead molybdate single crystals and generating the scattered light which is shorter in wavelength than the oscillation wavelength of the incident light pulse, makes wavelength separation easy, has a maximal value and has the time width of the picosecond order of a single wavelength by a stimulated Raman effect. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
