PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the sufficient corona discharge treatment of the surface of a synthetic fiber comprising a multifilament yarn. SOLUTION: This method for the corona discharge treatment of the synthetic fiber comprising the multifilament yarn, comprising passing the synthetic fiber through a discharge region where high voltage pulses are applied to generate the corona discharge, is characterized in that a gas flow is blown on the surface of the synthetic fiber in the discharge region. The high voltage pulses preferably have a pulse width of≥0.5μsec, a pulse frequency of≥20 pulses/sec, and an average electric field strength of 4 to 200 kV/cm, wherein the electric field strength is expressed by an applied voltage/distance between electrodes.
