PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain traffic information on a route and detailed information on a traffic jam on a route by simple operation, in an on-vehicle device such as a car navigation device. SOLUTION: An information providing center has a communication part for performing communication by a communication line, a request receiving part for receiving a request from the car navigation device, a providing part for providing information to the car navigation device, a traffic information obtaining part for obtaining traffic information from a traffic information center, a user information DB for managing the information of the user and the route data transmitted to the user, and a traffic information DB for storing the traffic information obtained by the traffic information obtaining part. The traffic information of an area containing the route stored in the user information DB is delivered from the information providing center. The Car navigation device is provided with an operating means for simply displaying a traffic jam portion in the traffic information on route, and moving forward and backward the displayed portion.
