PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturized objective lens driving apparatus that is suitably used in dealing with a high density optical recording medium stored in a cartridge case, and also to provide an optical pickup device equipped with this apparatus. SOLUTION: In the objective lens driving apparatus 51, the lens holder 54 is provided with a plurality of tracking coils 63 which are arranged in a manner that the winding axis direction 64 crosses at right angles to the axial line 56 and that they are in a position oppositely facing in point symmetry with respect to the axial center 65 of the sliding shaft 55, and also provided with one focusing coil 62 which is arranged in a manner that the winding axis direction 67 is parallel to the axial line 56 and that the focusing coil is between the tracking coil 63 and the base member 58 in the axial line 56 direction. As a result, the apparatus 51 can be miniaturized, enabling information to be accurately recorded and reproduced on a high density recording medium of a type stored in a cartridge case, and making available an optical pickup device equipped with this objective lens driving apparatus 51.
