PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque control device for an internal combustion engine which enhances the torque controllability for the output torque without increasing the number of maps when the output torque of the engine according to the request of the driver is to be determined. SOLUTION: For correcting the request shaft torque requested by the drive shaft of the internal-combustion engine, a correcting process 14 for the ignition timing efficiency is executed to determine the torque efficiencyηfor the ignition delay angle Retard from a fundamental curvature formula which uses as parameter the ignition timing as the first parameter. At this time, the factor of the fundamental curvature formula is set on the basis of a two-dimensional map which uses as parameters the A/F and the degree of swirl opening as the second control parameters to be influenced by each other being different from the ignition timing as the first parameter, and the curvature of the fundamental curvature formula is corrected. Because the engine is controlled on the basis of the efficiency correction torque corrected by a simple constitution as described above, the torque controllability is enhanced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
