The mounting for an electrical fitting comprises a base plate (10) and a cover (25) mounted adjacent to a cable conduit. Part of the base plate area includes a cable passage section, giving easy access to cables between the cable supply conduit and the back of the electrical fitting. The mounting for an electrical fitting is associated with a cable conduit (1). It comprises a base plate (10) and a cover (25), the cover being configured to carry an electrical fitting whilst the cover itself is attached to the base plate. The area taken up by the electrical fitting (11) does not take up the whole of the base plate area, but leaves an adjoining lateral space (37). A wide passage (38) links the space behind the electrical fitting and the lateral space. The lateral space provides easy access for the conducting cables which pass through the neck of the mounting (20) into the cable conduit (1). A further faceplate may be provided to cover the lateral cable access space, and the section of conduit into which the cables are introduced.
