A cross-linkable photochromic composition, comprising at least one segmented or non-segmented polyurethane-type or polyurethane-urea-type linear polymer having at least one non-terminal moiety that comprises at least one unsaturated group, and photochromic organic compound(s), is new. New cross-linkable photochromic composition, comprising at least one segmented or non-segmented polyurethane-type or polyurethane-urea-type linear polymer having at least one non-terminal moiety that comprises at least one unsaturated group; and photochromic organic compound(s). Independent claims are also included for: (a) a cross-linked photochromic composition obtainable by cross-linking a cross-linkable photochromic composition as above; (b) a photochromic lens based on a cross-linked photochromic composition above; and (c) a method of preparing a photochromic composition, comprising mixing polyurethane-type and/or polyurethane-urea-type linear polymer having at least one non-terminal moiety that comprises at least one unsaturated group; an amount of photochromic organic compound(s); optionally additional unsaturated monomer(s); optionally an amount of radical polymerization initiator(s); and optionally an amount of an inert solvent.
