PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which a first frame rate control method, that eliminates gamma distortion of higher-order gradation among all representation possible gradation, a second frame rate control method, that displays all color numbers being represented by the number of inputted bits of RGB data, and both the first and the second frame rate control methods are made applicable. SOLUTION: The frame rate control method includes first, second and third steps. In the first step, n bit RGB data are received from a graphic source external to the liquid crystal display device. In the second step, the RGB data are expanded into e bit data by using the gradation value indicated by the RGB data. In the third step, lower-order d bits of the expanded RGB data are extracted and frame data are converted so that the frequency of generation of the gradation indicated by (e-d) bits, in which lower-order d bits of the expanded RGB data are eliminated by the lower-order d bits of the RGB data expanded in continuous 2d frames, and the frequency of generation of an immediately upper-order gradation are adjusted.
