DEVICE FOR COOLING SLUG DISCHARGED FROM ASH MELTING FURNACE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely prevent steam explosion without using a large quantity of cooling water. SOLUTION: A cooling water tank 20 in which cooling water 18 is reserved is set at the lower end of a discharge shoot 16 disposed at a slug outlet 8 of the burner type melting furnace 1. The lower end of the discharge shoot 16 is sunk in the cooling water 18 inside the cooling water tank 20. An injection nozzle 22 is attached at the position on one side wall 16a of the discharge shoot 16, where the lower end of the discharge shoot 16 is sunk, toward the opposite side wall 16b. A cooling water circulation device 21 is mounted between the injection nozzle 22 and the bottom side of the cooling water tank 20. The cooling water 18 inside the cooling water tank 20 is taken out by the cooling water circulation device 21 and fed to the injection nozzle 22 to form a water current 18a underwater inside the discharge shoot 16 by the injection nozzle 22.
