<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ferromagnetic metal powder and a magnetic recording medium containing the same powder wherein its output is made high in highly dense recording (recording wavelength is shorter than 0.5 μm), and its noise is made low, and further, its weather resistance is made excellent. <P>SOLUTION: In the ferromagnetic metal powder and the magnetic recording medium containing the same powder, the size of the crystal element of the metal powder is made not smaller than two times as large as the mean length of the minor axis of the metal portion of the metal powder, and the saturation magnetization quantity (σs) of the metal powder is made not larger than 140 A m<SP>2</SP>/kg. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
