PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image communication apparatus which can confirm environment of device installation from the outside. SOLUTION: This image communication device is equipped with a scanner 4, a printer 6 which records an image which is photographed by the scanner 4 on paper, an NCU 2, a MODEM 3, and a LAN I/F 7 for transmitting the image picked-up with the scanner 4, an image memory 10 which has a region for an image file 10a, a key pad 11 which has a camera mode selection key 11a and a shutter key 11b, a camera I/F 13 to which a digital camera is connected, and a digital camera for imaging a three-dimensional object attached externally to the device. When it receives an electronic mail to the effect that it should send an image picked up with the digital camera from outside through a LAN 30 or the Internet 35, the image of the environment of the place of device installation is photographed with the digital camera, and the photographed image is transmitted to the destination of electronic mail transmission as an annexed file to the electronic mail.
