PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber component having high durability, reliability and improved transmission characteristics, and also to provide a method for manufacturing such optical fiber component easily and with a high yield. SOLUTION: The optical fiber component 1 is equipped with a plurality of optical fiber cords 2 which include a coated optical fiber 21, a reinforcing material 22 and a skin 23 covering the fiber 21 and the material 22, a tape-like fiber part 3 in which the coated optical fibers 21 exposed from the plurality of optical fiber cords 2 are arrayed/integrated, and a branch fixing part 4 having one end part 41a which fixes the end 23a of the skin 23 of each optical fiber cord 2, and the other end part 41b which fixes the tape-like fiber part 3 and the tip end 22a of the reinforcing material 22 exposed from each optical fiber cord 2, and for storing each coated optical fiber 21 and reinforcing material 22 which are in a state exposed from each optical fiber cord 2 between the one end part 41a and the other end part 41b.
