<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transflective liquid crystal display device capable of bright display even when display is performed in a transmission mode, and to provide a method for manufacturing the device. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with a liquid crystal panel 10 having a liquid crystal layer 4 interposed between an upper substrate 1 and a lower substrate 2 opposed to each other and a polarizing plate 19 and a lower polarizing layer 21 respectively on upper and lower sides of the liquid crystal layer 4. A reflection layer 20 having transmitting holes 20a for transmitting light is formed on the inner surface side of the lower substrate 2, the lower polarizing layer 21 is formed on the reflection layer 20, aperture parts 21a each linked to the transmitting hole 20a of the reflection layer 20 are formed in the lower polarizing layer 21 and each aperture part 21a and each transmitting hole 20a are positioned in nearly the same position in terms of top view. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
