ANISOTROPIC SCATTERING FILM AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anisotropic scattering film having high transmitting property and excellent scattering intensity and to provide a liquid crystal display device using the anisotropic scattering film.

SOLUTION: [1] The anisotropic scattering film features that: (I-1) the film has a sea-island structure comprising a matrix phase consisting of at least one kind of polymeric material and a dispersed phase consisting of at least one kind of polymeric material; (I-2) the dispersed phase is rod-like; (I-3) the dispersed phase substantially orientates to one direction; (I-4) the refractive index of the dispersed phase in major axis direction differs from the refractive index of the matrix phase in corresponding direction; and (I-5) the dispersed phase has ≤200 nm diameter and ≥800 nm length. [2] The liquid crystal display device is obtained by using the above anisotropic scattering film.
