<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid polymer type fuel cell achieving both high performance and low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell uses a separator made of materials including at least a stamped metal material and a resin. The separator comprises electron- conductive ribs, with at least one dummy rib provided between adjacent ones of the electron-conductive ribs. The invention is advantageous for reducing cost because the separator can be fabricated through an inexpensive processing method using a conventional metal plate. Furthermore, the invention improves the linear velocity of a reaction gas by providing the dummy rib on the separator surface, and reduces resistance components by increasing the areas in which the separator is in contact with an electrode and a diffusion layer.
