<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method for efficiently collecting a developer. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is equipped with a transfer medium for transferring a developer on an image carrier to a transfer material, a 1st transfer means which can transfer the developer on the image carrier to the transfer medium, a 1st collecting means which collects the developer on the image carrier, a 2nd transfer means which can transfer the developer on the transfer medium to the transfer material, a 2nd collecting means which collects the developer on the transfer medium, and a jam detecting means which detects the transfer material jamming. When the jam detecting means detects the transfer material jamming, a jam detection signal from the jam detecting means determines control over the 1st transfer means according to the generation timing and under the determined control, the developer on the image carrier or the developer on the transfer medium is collected by the 1st or 2nd collecting means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
