Method for processing literals has the following steps: provision of at least a dictionary (DIC) capable of understanding a plurality of literals each associated with a key providing a context; receipt of a request comprising a default literal and a key relating to this literal; in response to the request verification of whether the key exists in the dictionary; and, if the verification is positive, processing of the literal from the dictionary, while if it does not exist, use of the default literal and addition of the new literal to the dictionary associated with the said key. An Independent claim is made for a device for processing literals.
