<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy in detecting the life of an ITB, prolong the life of the ITB, and reduce the cost of an image forming device. <P>SOLUTION: (1) The life of the ITB is detected by a density detecting sensor. (2) The life of the ITB is detected by using an optical sensor and a sheet counter. (3) A recovery operation for the surface of the ITB is carried out when the optical sensor detects a degree of the ITB soiling and it is determined that the ITB is heavily soiled. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
