Process for separating water and solids during granulation of blast furnace slag comprises spraying water into a forging stream, feeding the granulate/water mixture produced to a collecting vessel (7) of a dewatering device (30), from which a portion of water is removed into the process cycle, feeding the water portion to the inlet of a hydrocyclone (31), feeding the coarse fraction portion (32) containing solids leaving the outlet of the hydrocyclone to the collecting vessel, and feeding the fine fraction portion (33) to the water-process cycle.
