A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery provided with an electrode group comprising a high-density anode having an anode active matter layer formed on at least one surface of an anode collector, a high-density cathode having a cathode active matter layer formed on at least one surface of a cathode collector, and a separator interposed between the anode and the cathode, wherein the nonaqueous electrolyte has a structure of being impregnated into the electrode group, and the anode active matter layer of the anode has a specific surface area per unit area 0.5-1.0 times that per unit area of the cathode active matter layer of the cathode facing the anode across the separator.
