There is also disclosed a method of operating a security system including sending data from a remote site (30) to a security apparatus (1), activating the apparatus (1) using a signal from a remote site (30), including collecting data at the apparatus (1) from at least one location marker (20) and communicating the data from the apparatus (1) to the remote site (30), and receiving data at the remote site (30) from the apparatus (1) and the at least one location marker (20) and storing the data at the remote site (30).
