The invention relates to a fibre optic cable (10) for installing in a gas conduit, in addition to a cable laying device. The inventive fibre optic cable (10) has a cable jacket (17), at least one traction relief element (15) that is integrated into the cable jacket (17) and at least two groups (11, 12) of fibre optics (13). Each of said groups (11,12) is surrounded by a sheath (14) and each sheath (14) is configured from a material that acts as a hydrogen permeation barrier. The fibre optic cable (10) is installed in a gas conduit in a cable laying device.
