发明名称 Spacer for fuel rods esp. in water-cooled reactor - comprising metal esp. zirconium alloy strip inclined to coolant flow
摘要
A spacer for nuclear fuel elements, esp. in a water-cooled reactor, is intended for use in which a large number of fuel rods are arranged in a square lattice and held in position by a grating. In the grating, all the spacers in >=1 direction are of generally flat strip, with surfaces inclined to the direction of the water flow so that the edges of the spacer strips are in contact with the fuel elements. Each spacer strip is pref. flat, but is inclined to the flow direction through the element, and has cut-outs to form seatings adjacent to each fuel rod. The flat strips are pref. twisted in alternate directions so that its upper and lower edges each have an undulating shape in plan, out of phase with the shape of the opposite edge. A simple but firm spacer is obtd. which does not require any projecting studs and which can be made entirely of Zr alloy.
