Oval shaped tea infuser with two shells - has longitudinal division of shells for easier mass production and handling

The egg-shaped tee infuser spoon comprises two separate shells (1, 2) which are each shaped in the form of a longitudinally halved egg and have a peripheral flanged edge (3). The two shells can be readily connected together by means of at least one snap fastener (6) and at least two support flaps (7) which are mounted at an angle to each other and to the fastener (6). The two shells which are identical except for their fastening members can be economically mass-produced in the same stamping apparatus and the longitudinally divided oval shape requires fewer and easier working steps than the standard horizontally divided shells. The longitudinal division also provides a large opening for filling and emptying the tea leaves. One of the shells can be provided with an eyelet (4) for a chain whilst the other shell has a tab (6) which in the closed position engages through the eyelet.
