Metal hollow profiles in plastic foam window frame - have labyrinthine external stems which engage hardened plastic after foaming

The frame for a window is made from plastic foam with inlaid hollow metal profiled units. These units (1) have bent stem pieces fitted on their outside surface (1a), in a labyrinthine pattern, to engage the hard-set plastic (15, 17) after completion of the foaming process. The stems are pref. right-angled in section, or T-shaped, with one surface opposite to the outside face of the hollow unit. They may be evenly distributed over the unit's periphery. There may be a groove (6) between two adjacent stems which is not filled with plastic, pref. serving to retain a glazing batten (7). There is no need for elaborate subsequent working on the aluminium or other metal profiles.
