1515415 Cyclopentanecarboxaldehydes PFIZER Inc 11 Dec 1975 [11 Dec 1974] 16030/77 Divided out of 1515414 Heading C2C Novel cyclopentanecarboxaldehydes of the formula wherein R 2 is C 1-8 alkyl, C 7-9 phenylalkyl, phenyl, tolyl, biphenylyl or α- or #-naphthyl are prepared by oxidizing the corresponding 5α- acyloxy - 2# - hydroxymethyl - 1α - [6 - (tetrasol- 5 - yl)hexyl]cyclopentanes obtained by hydrogenating the appropriate 5α-acyloxy-2#-benzyloxymethyl - 1α - [6 - (tetrazol - 5 - yl) - cis - 2- hexenyl]cyclopentanes, resulting from the acylation of 3# - benzyloxymethyl - 2α - (6- (tetrazol - 5 - yl) - cis - 2 - hexenyl]cyclopentan- 1α - ol, which is prepared by reacting [4- (tetrazol - 5 - yl)butyl]triphenylphosphonium bromide with 4# - benzoyloxymethyl - 3,3α#,4,5, 6,6α# - hexahydro - 2H - cyclopenta[b]furan, - 2 - ol, obtained by reducing 4#-benzyloxymethyl- 3,3α#,4,5,6,6α# - hexahydro - 2H - cyclopenta- [6]furan-2-one.
